Software portfolio for Erica Neely
This is an ongoing project to create a web app for keeping track of a user's medications, including what doctor prescribed them, what pharmacy filled them, and any relevant information about the medications themselves. It also allows users to set refill reminders.
I wrote this project in Python using a SQLite database and Flask as the web application framework. I chose Flask because of its flexibility - it enabled me to choose which modules to install based on the desired features of the app.
To create the front-end I used the Jinja template engine to populate pages with information from the database (and HTML to provide the requisite structure for the pages.) I then used CSS and Javascript to deliver a satisfying user experience.
This project uses data from the Metropolitan Museum of Art about its collection to illustrate changes in the size of its collection, acquisition trends over time, and what countries the collection's highlights are from.
I used Pandas and Numpy to extract data from the CSV file. The data required a fair amount of cleaning, after which I created a Pandas DataFrames containing only the information required for each visualization. This allowed me to work with a much smaller subset of the dataset, which was more efficient.
I used Plotly to create the appropriate data visualizations from the DataFrames and Dash to provide a convenient user dashboard. I also wrote some explanatory text to provide context for the visualizations, so I used a little HTML to organize all of this into a cohesive web page.
